Rebates: Watts it all about?
Do I get rebates?
1
Yes. Anyone who installs solar panels or a battery is eligible to receive small-scale technology certificates (STCs), as long as the components are approved by the CEC, and the installer is fully licensed to claim them.
These are issued by the CER and funded at the federal level, so all Australian residents can claim them. They are not means-tested.
Victorian residents also have potential access to the Solar Victoria rebate and interest-free loan, though this is means-tested and requires an application.
How much do I get?
2
STCs scale with the capacity of you solar and battery system. Simply put, the bigger the system, the larger the rebate.
The Solar Victoria rebate is static at $1400, with the interest-free loan (optional) also at $1,400. You will need to supply proof of a household income below $210,000 per year in order to prove eligible.
It is more complex than that, and there are limitations to size, and geographical factors among other things. You don’t need to know the ins and outs, as we automatically calculate the rebate on every quote.
However, If you want to understand the rebates in detail follow this link to the CER’s website for a full description:
They also have some handy calculators, too.
Do I pay first, and then get the rebate back?
3
No! We deduct the amount claimed off the up-front price. This means we make the claim, and have to wait for the funds to be released, not you. Basically don’t worry we handle everything!
Are the rebates disappearing?

Not overnight, but yes eventually. Every year, they drop roughly 18%, meaning the earlier you have your system installed, the better of you’ll be financially.
